Job Description

My client a leading global banking group is looking to recruit a Head of Fraud Risk Operations for its Virtual Bank. The incumbent will report to the COO and manage a team of Fraud Risk Operations professionals.


  • The Head of Fraud Risk Operations will have responsibility for ensuring the efficient and effective execution of fraud management, monitoring, investigations and preventions measures and will manage a team sitting in the first line of defence working closely with the Fraud Risk Policy team, developers and services providers
  • The jobholder will develop an operating model to best support process efficiencies and effectiveness in Fraud Risk Management, overseeing and testing the development of the platform ensuring the model is able to identify the emerging and current transaction fraud risks
  • The incumbent will need to be familiar with internal policies and external regulations and will help to develop policies, standards and procedures
  • As the leader of the team the Head of Fraud Risk Operations will act quickly and decisively when risk and control weaknesses become apparent, ensure that fraud recovery opportunities are fully optimized, identifying and tracking key performance indicators to support a strategy testing environment, daily operations and ongoing improvements
  • The jobholder will analyse fraud transaction patterns to advance fraud preventative measures and minimize losses, ensuring that risks are understood and agreed with the respective business heads, recommending changes to the process control environment or business practices to reduce the level of fraud risk exposure
  • The incumbent will maintain relationships with law enforcement officials, card issues, acquiring members and credit bureaus to implement effective risk control measures


  • The successful candidate will have a strong background in digital fraud and/or card fraud risk operations and have solid experience in dealing with card and digital transaction fraud, a strong awareness of the business dynamics of virtual banking and have good analytical skills to detect current and emerging fraud trends
  • Applicants will need to possess at least 5 years’ experience in a risk or control focused role with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial position
  • Candidates will need to demonstrate solid knowledge of the enterprise fraud management landscape, have prior experience in delivering the new business process on fraud or related disciplines, industry and market knowledge about the major service providers of the FRM platform and experience in managing them as a vendor
  • Those with knowledge of card fraud management would be at an advantage
