Job Description

Major responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support mainly to FICC teams based in Hong Kong and elsewhere
  • Draft or review various transaction documents related to FICC transactions and products and also the legal documents related to relationship establishment, such as distribution agreements, derivative transactions, structured notes, MTN program documents, terms of business, prime brokerage agreements, bond connect related agreements
  • Advise business teams on various legal, structural, reputational and other transaction-related issues
  • Respond to regulatory initiates, market structure reform and policy work
  • Attend internal meetings on behalf of Legal
  • Work closely with Compliance on various matters affecting FICC business and certain general matters

Expected profile:

  • Lawyers with 4-6 years of experience with general finance training from a reputable international law firm or in-house counsel at a leading financial institution
  • Qualified in HK, UK, US or other major jurisdictions
  • Good drafting and negotiation skills
  • Good knowledge of FICC business and products (such as structured notes issued under the MTN program, derivative transactions (e.g., swaps and repos), cross-border transactions) and related documentation and regulation required
  • Good analytical skills and ability to identify and resolve issues in a fast paced environment
  • Being able to handle pressure
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English; and ideally, being able to review and draft documents in Chinese
  • Proactive, willing to learn and detail-orientated
