Aquis Search is assisting a prestigious financial services client in hiring an Associate Director- Legal, responsible for ensuring compliance with SEBI regulations, managing regulatory relationships, and advising the business on legal and risk-related matters. The role is pivotal in maintaining legal integrity and aligning the company’s operations with evolving securities laws.

Responsibilities

Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with SEBI regulations

Maintain strong working relationships with the SEBI regulator and respond to regulatory inquiries

Advise internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters

Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies

Collaborate across business, compliance, and legal functions

Provide input on internal methodologies, policies, and procedures

Oversee regulatory documentation and ensure adherence to legal frameworks

Develop and lead legal training sessions for internal teams

Requirements

8–12 years of legal experience in financial services or banking

Strong expertise in SEBI regulations and securities laws

Prior experience engaging directly with SEBI is preferred

Excellent legal research, drafting, and communication skills

Ability to simplify complex legal topics for business teams

LLB or equivalent degree from a recognized institution

Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability
