Description
As the Head/VP of Business Development, you will lead investment sourcing strategy in India. This includes managing a high-performing outbound team, enhancing deal flow, leveraging databases, and optimizing outreach strategies. You’ll work closely with the investment team to align sourcing efforts and support its mission of backing category-defining founders.


Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

Build, lead, and mentor a team of Investment Development Associates

Set KPIs and manage performance through structured feedback and coaching

Foster a collaborative, high-energy work environment


Outbound Strategy & Execution

Design and manage outbound prospecting strategies (calls, emails, lead scoring)

Work with IT to enhance tools and automation (Affinity, databases, CRM integrations)

Constantly refine lead lists and scripts to drive qualified engagement


Deal Sourcing & Qualification

Ensure lead qualification aligns with investment thesis and target profiles

Act as the first filter for early-stage opportunities and manage CRM pipeline updates

Collaborate with the investment team on lead handoffs and opportunity evaluation

Attend relevant events and conferences to enhance lead funnel


Reporting & Optimization

Track key metrics across outreach efforts, team performance, and pipeline conversion

Analyze data to optimize outreach, improve ROI, and guide strategic decisions

Present periodic reports to senior leadership


Cross-Team Collaboration

Align sourcing initiatives with investment, marketing, and ops functions

Share market insights to help refine broader investment strategy

Maintain awareness of ecosystem trends and competitor activities


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or related fields

Proven success in inside sales, lead generation, or outbound BD (preferably in VC or SaaS)

Experience managing inside sales teams with quota/KPI accountability

Strong communication and persuasion skills over phone and email

Proficient in CRMs (Affinity preferred) and outbound tools

Organized, data-driven, and self-starter with a collaborative mindset


Preferred

Experience in VC/PE/startup sales or founder-facing roles

Strong network in the Indian startup/VC ecosystem

Background in selling high-value, consultative services
